Refugee Protection Division (RPD)

For people fleeing persecution, the RPD hearing is everything.

What the RPD decides

The Refugee Protection Division hears and decides claims for refugee protection made inside Canada. The member decides whether you are a Convention refugee, based on a well founded fear of persecution for reasons such as race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group, or a person otherwise in need of protection. Hearings are private.

Credibility and country evidence win claims

Most claims turn on credibility and on objective evidence about conditions in your home country. A consistent, well documented narrative, corroborating documents, and country condition evidence filed on time are what a member looks for. Gaps, contradictions and late disclosure are what sink otherwise genuine claims.

How we help

We prepare your Basis of Claim, assemble and disclose evidence, obtain country condition documentation, prepare you thoroughly for questioning, and represent you at the hearing with care and clarity.
