What the IAD decides
The Immigration Appeal Division is the part of the Immigration and Refugee Board that hears immigration appeals. It decides appeals of family class sponsorships refused by IRCC, removal orders made against permanent residents and protected persons, and findings that a permanent resident did not meet the residency obligation. A successful appeal can keep your family together or protect the status you already hold.
Why representation matters here
An IAD appeal is a hearing before a tribunal member, with the Minister represented on the other side. Evidence, disclosure and legal argument all follow strict rules and deadlines, and in many appeals the member can weigh humanitarian and compassionate factors.
